We are looking into using tablets or IPads for check in stations. I'm looking for any recommendations on what is better/easier. Thank you in advance.

We use touch screen kiosks in our kids building gathering area so we can print labels - but our student ministry uses iPads fairly well. There is some issue with getting the url to stick - I have to delete the extra characters in the end of the url to get past the error message.
We have 8 kiosks for 300+ kids (birth to 4th grade), we print child and parent labels and this works very well for us.
We have 4 iPads for 150+ 6-8th graders to checkin but do not print labels.
We are self hosted
Depends on what your goal is. If it is to print labels then it will be much easier using some sort of windows based tablet. My understanding is that you can checkin and print labels from an iPad but the printers will have to be networked. There is no way to print directly to the printer via usb or bluetooth with an iPad.
Thank you. We use kiosks for our Sunday School kids but are looking to start having the adults check in for worship and would like the ability to use the tablet/ipad for other things as well. It's good to know that iPads work well.
That is good to know about the printer situation in case we want to have that functionality.
I think there is a trick to setup printing via ipad. I am not remembering off the top of my head but I believe you just create a web based check-in station on a windows machine then name the iPad the same thing or something along those lines.
