Question
How do I use my Canon scanner to scan payments in Accounts Receivable?
Answer
Configure ShelbyNext | Financials to use the scanner and then you can use it to enter payments.
Configure Shelby Financials
Follow these steps to configure Accounts Receivable to use your Canon scanner:
Note: Before beginning these steps, make sure you load the appropriate Ranger driver for your scanner.
- Log in to ShelbyNext | Financials and go to Accounts Receivable.
- Click on Modify and then Preferences.
- Select the option to Use Cross Check.

- Hover over the Information
icon and click the link to download the Shelby.Client.exe file.

- Run the Shelby.Client.exe file.
- Put a check in your scanner and click the Scan CrossCheck button. The check will pull through the scanner and results will display.

- Click the Update button to save your changes.
Enter Payments
- Log in to ShelbyNext | Financials and go to Accounts Receivable.
- Enter a new payment by clicking on Enter and then Payment or by clicking Manage, Payment Processing, then Add New Payment.
- Accounts Receivable will pull the item through the scanner automatically. If an association already exists between the MICR/Account information on the check and someone in the database the name(s) will be displayed on the Person Search screen. If there is not an existing MICR/Account association then you can search for the appropriate name.
- Click on the name you wish to use for this payment and then the Select button.
- Enter the Check Date and Check Amount and associate the payment to the correct invoice(s) in the grid.
- Click the Apply button to scan another payment. Click the Update button if you are done entering payments.
Save your payments as you normally would. Any new MICR/Account associations that you entered will be saved onto the individual records.
